British Triathlon Disabled Championships 2008

A competitive field of 20 triathletes took to open waters at Rother Valley for a 750m swim, followed by a 20K bike circuit, leading to a 5k run, in the inaugural British Triathlon Disabled Champs. The closest finish saw James Martin out sprinting Nicholas Gregory in the final 100m to win the Tri 9 Class by 5 seconds.

English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) is the national body responsible for developing sport for disabled people in England. We work closely with the following five National Disability Sports Organisations (NDSOs) recognised by Sport England to develop sporting opportunities for the 11 million disabled people in England:

A national children’s charity are seeking the country’s gifted and talented disabled children to apply for adapted sports equipment. The Caudwell Children ‘Enable Sport’ programme has been launched by Caudwell Children in partnership with Barclays Wealth to launch a three month initial programme to fund adapted sports equipment for disabled children to participate in competitive sport.

ITV presenter, Ian Payne, hosted this years npower North East Disability Sports Awards held at Durham County Cricket Club. Over 120 guests attended the celebration, including Paralympian and World Champion, Stephen Miller, David Harker, Chief Executive of Durham County Cricket Club and Gordon Neale OBE, Director of Events, Disability Sports Events.

The England Learning Disability squad will face Hungary, France and Portugal in the group stages of this summer's INAS - FID European Championships. The competition will take place over July and August with England's campaign starting against France at Manchester SportCity on July 20.
