Sandwell Leisure Trust commits to Inclusive Training

After attending a one day Inclusive Fitness Training course, staff at Sandwell Leisure Trust are now equipped to supporting the delivery of an inclusive fitness service. The course explored barriers disabled customers' face and identified possible solutions.

English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) is the national body responsible for developing sport for disabled people in England. We work closely with the following five National Disability Sports Organisations (NDSOs) recognised by Sport England to develop sporting opportunities for the 11 million disabled people in England:

› Sport England relaunches Sportsmatch
Sportsmatch Logo

Sport England is delighted to announce the return of Sportsmatch with a new web-based facility enabling applicants to apply online. Designed to encourage new or additional sponsorship investment from businesses, trusts and private individuals, Sportsmatch, funded by Sport England, will continue to offer pound for pound matched funding to sporting stakeholders for projects that encourage sports participation at grass roots level.

› Team Oyster Win Gold at the Hyeres Regatta
John Robertson Sailing

Helmsman John Robertson from Sunderland has steered his team to a gold medal in the Hyeres Regatta. John along with crew members Hannah Stodel and Stephen Thomas have claimed Great Britain’s first medal at the French Olympic Sailing Week in Hyeres, clinching gold with a day to spare in the Paralympic Sonar class on Thursday 24 April. The team's selection for the Beijing paralympic Games was confirmed earlier this month. for more information follow the above link.

› Advocacy and Activity Buddy Scheme launched

English Federation of Disability Sport has received funding to support the development of an Advocacy and Activity Buddy Scheme. The aim is to increase participation of disabled people within sport.

› Durham County FA Level 1 Coaching Course Tue 6th May 2008 to Sat 31st May 2008

Durham County FA will be delivering a A Level 1 Coaching Course aimed at people with a disability or people who work with disabilities. The course will be held over 9 sessions beteween May 6th and May 31st at Houghton Kepier College Houghton le Spring.
